August 23, 2019 – 6th Grade Teacher’s Notes
I am loving getting to know your child. This class is full of energy and enthusiasm which makes them a joy to teach. We are off to a great start! They are figuring out 6th grade, their teacher, and the curriculum. I am enjoying figuring out the 6th graders and what makes Our Redeemer an awesome place to be. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Literature– We have been working on reviewing and discussing the summer reading, The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe. The students have been creating their own fantasy kingdoms. Your child is full of imagination!
Math– We are figuring out the ins and outs of the new curriculum. The adjustment period from Saxon to Pearson will take a little time; encourage your child to ask questions. If your child is in 7th grade math, don’t hesitate to ask Ms. Miller any questions that may arise. email@example.com
The format will follow last years. On Monday, they will receive the newspaper for the week. We will read it, discuss it, and complete activities. On Thursday, we will take an assessment. They are allowed to use their newspapers during the assessment.
I was asked if students could celebrate their birthday by bringing a treat to school. They are welcome to bring a treat, but it is not required. If they choose to bring a treat; a day or two notice would be fantastic!
I grade student work as quickly as I can so they can get feedback each week. It also allows me to revisit a topic, if many students struggled. Grades will be entered into TADS. Graded papers will come home on Fridays.
Literature- On Monday or Tuesday we will be beginning a new novel in class!
