December 7, 2018 – Kindergarten Teacher’s Notes
We are very excited to be learning about Advent. We lit one candle on our wreath this week. (Can’t wait to light the pink candle!) We learned about the angel visiting Zechariah in the temple to tell him the news that John will be born and visiting Mary and Joseph to tell them about Jesus being born. Such a busy Christmas angel! It was fun to see all kinds of angel pictures and wonder what they really look like. We also made an angel for our hallway.
In reading, we finished the letter Cc and went on to our last vowel, Ee. It was fun to make cat masks, just like our reading book. We had two new Word Wall Words—into and one. We added many sounding out words, too. The children are becoming good beginning readers! We are also learning how to put the letters in alphabetical order, or ABC order.
Our new personal goal is I know my phone number. Please practice with your child at home so they can tell me their phone number and pass this goal!
Next week is Elf Week in Kindergarten! It is a very fun week as we review the five senses “the elf way”. We will make a fun elf snack each day for morning snack and have our final Elf Party on Friday. Be sure to check out the paper in your child’s school bag to see how you can help. Friday is also the day to wear fun Christmas clothes—so festive!!
Don’t forget the caroling party at the Steirer home on Sunday! We thank them for hosting.
