February 14, 2020- Kindergarten Teacher’s Notes
Happy Valentine’s Day! It sure was fun to open up valentines from our classmates. Thanks to those of you who were able to stop in and/or provided something for our breakfast party. The children and I appreciated it.
We started a new unit during Jesus Time focusing on Jesus’ miracles. Jesus did miracles for two reasons—to show his power and to help others. Miracles are not tricks or magic; they are truly God’s power. This week we started with his first miracle when he changed water into wine. We also learned about Jairus’ Daughter, the loaves and fish, and Jesus walking on water. The children are making a book about the miracles.
We continued our study of Abraham Lincoln and added George Washington, just in time for Presidents’ Day on Monday. Remember—no school.
We are working on the letter Xx. This is an unusual letter in that it usually comes at the end of a word, not at the beginning. It does not make the correct sound in the beginning as in xylophone (/z/ sound). Our key words are box, mix, six, tax. Our new Word Wall Word is love, perfect for Valentine’s Day!
I know my address….is our new Kindergarten personal goal. The children will make a drawing of their home and print their address this weekend at homework (return Tuesday). They will need to memorize their address and may say it to me as soon as they are ready.
Dylan is our Top Dog this week! His birthday is October 28th. Dylan enjoys playing football and wants to be an FBI agent when he grows up.
We celebrated with Brayden this week for his Baptism Birthday! Brayden became a child of God on February 16th. We’re so glad he did!
