February 21, 2020- Kindergarten Teacher’s Notes
We focused on three miracles this week—The Paralyzed Man, Blind Bartimaeus, and Simon and His Boat. The children are drawing really nice pictures of each miracle for their book. (I really learn a lot about each child through their artwork. Please take time to have them tell you about each story when they bring their book home.) We also have fun singing a few songs about the miracles.
The letter of the week was Ww. We worked on the W questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? Questions always need an answer. We are getting to the end of the alphabet for review of the letters, sounds, and making the proper handwriting strokes of each letter. Please review with your child to ensure they have mastered all of this material. We will continue with new words and rules after we complete the whole alphabet.
Our math class is about shapes. Most of it has been “easy” according to the children as they know the basic shapes. We are also working on sorting shapes by the size, shape, or color.
February is National Dental Health month. We began our dental unit this week and will continue it next week. The children know they should brush their teeth two times a day and visit their dentist two times a year. They also know to eat healthy food with snacks being an occasional treat. During this unit we will watch several short videos about teeth and do some projects. Make sure you, as a parent, are doing all you can to help your child have healthy teeth.
**Amazing Discovery** Why do we use refrigerators for our food? We are doing an experiment to find out why. Be sure and ask your child about it.
Gunnar is our Top Dog this week. Gunnar’s birthday is August 21. He enjoys playing with his older brother, Pierce, at home. His favorite animal is a pug.
Lunch bunch is Tuesday. Be sure to send in your form by Monday.
