January 10, 2020- 6th Grade Teacher’s Notes
Literature- New AR goals have been set. Check in with your student and see if they have a plan on how to reach their goal by the end of the quarter. We have started a new novel, Island of the Blue Dolphins.
English- We are nearing the end of our current chapter which has been a mix of many kinds of punctuation. We will cover apostrophes, quotation marks, semicolons, underlining, and hyphens.
6th Grade Math– We are in Topic 11 (which is a short one) learning all about percents. It looks like we will probably have a test on Wednesday or Thursday of next depending on how the last two lessons go.
6th Grade Social Studies– Next up will be Central Asia. Key vocabulary will be: immigrate, emigrate, contaminated water supply, and human rights.
I am writing “thank you” notes and giving them to the students; but I wasn’t sure if they would make them home—so thank you so very much for your thoughtfulness and generosity at Christmas. I have been and still am enjoying Christmas gifts that you gave. Your students are a blessing! I enjoy their energy, enthusiasm, and love of life! It’s hard to believe we’ve hit January already.
