January 10, 2020 – Kindergarten Teacher’s Notes
Happy New Year! Writing 2020 might take a bit to get used to—I’ll do my best. I pray the New Year started healthy and happy for you. It sure was good to see the children back in Kindergarten. As much as I enjoyed the break, I missed those precious little ones, too.
We started right away by learning about the New Year. We also learned about Epiphany, the church celebration of the wise men. We made wise men for our altar board and 2020 creations for the hallway. We filled out our predictions for the coming year as well. (You’ll see those when our newest book comes to your house. We enjoyed seeing all the special Christmas gifts the children brought to share and made another book about those gifts.
We continued with the study of the letter Cc and started our last vowel, Ee. Our new Word Wall words are into and one. We also practiced reading the words class, cab, crib, and fact. We added all these words to our word rings.
We have new 100 Club members!! Dylan did a great job of counting 100 business cards that he collected. Gus perfectly counted 100 stickers!
New prayers: Thumbs up! Thumbs down! We fold our hands and softly say, thank you, God, for our food today. Amen. (snack prayer)
All through the day, all through the night, dwell in His promises, walk in His light. Darkness will flee at His command. All through the day and night we’re in His hands. (Sung/end of day)
Our new centers to explore—car ramp and cars/trucks, little school house and pieces, rhyming houses, office, and specialty scissors. It’s hard to wait for turns!
*Amazing Discovery* How does a pipe organ work? We went to the church balcony and Mr. Shewmaker showed us all about it.
