January 11, 2019 – Kindergarten Teacher’s Notes
Happy New Year! The children enjoyed “ringing in the New Year” on Monday and doing a few activities specific to 2019.
Congratulations to Katherine who joined the 100 Club right before Christmas. Katherine counted 100 small animals successfully. Now we look forward to our 100 Day Celebration on the 100th day of school!
This week we focused on the wise men and Epiphany. We decorated wise men to add to our altar board for this month. Our new snack prayer: Thumbs up, thumbs down. We fold our hands and softly say “Thank you, God, for our food today”. Amen. Our end of the day prayer (sung): All through the day, all through the night, dwell in His promises, walk in His light. Darkness shall flee at His command. All through the day and night we’re in His hand.
Watch for some snow/snowmen projects hanging in the hallway. Maybe if we read and talk about snow a lot, we will really get some!?!
In reading we finished our study of the letter Dd and began working with the letter Vv. Our new Word Wall Word is said. We also learned about quotation marks that show the words a person actually said.
During science class we focused on magnets. It sure was fun to find all the magnetic things in our room!
We enjoy doing a special project/activity with our PK4 class each Friday. Today we made snow globes, using only our fingertips for painting.
