Because of Winn-Dixie pages 45-
Opal and Winn-Dixie listen to Miss Franny Block’s story of how she once saw a bear when she was a little girl. Opal also learns that Miss Franny Block knew she wanted to be a librarian at a young age. This gets Opal to think more about her young life and her experience with Winn-Dixie so far.
In chapter eight, Opal and Winn-Dixie make a special trip to a local pet store called Gertrude’s Pets. Opal wants to get Winn-Dixie a nice collar at the store but doesn’t have enough money to pay for it. She shows her determination to get this for Winn-Dixie by offering the store owner to help around the shop to earn the collar.
