For those who have come to know our program well, you know that we specialize in multiple areas. If you are looking for wonderful, kind, Christian teachers…that’s us. If you are looking for an academically challenging setting that customizes your child’s education to his or her unique gifts and abilities…that’s us. If you are looking for a setting that emphasizes character and leadership development, that’s us, too. But over the last few months, we have added another dimension. We are committed to serving our students and our families well through a global pandemic. Our program has always preferred a setting that is not 24 students to 1 teacher in a crowded classroom. And what do you know…that just happens to be what our families are looking for. Let’s rock and roll and give these kids our best!
Many of you might have heard of Dallas County’s recent order. Then today, we received an order from Attorney General Ken Paxton stating that our school does have the right to open. The letter may be found here. We are moving forward with our planned August 12 start date and the options for learning are found below.
Our school had a strong COVID-19 plan in place this summer. We have been practicing and perfecting, disinfecting, and training. The informational landscape has been interesting, with government agencies publishing conflicting information in an increasingly political health battle. Rest assured, we don’t care about the politics. We care about your children, their health, their education, and your family. That’s our job. As our board writes policies, they are collecting feedback from parents to make sure their decisions will reflect the concerns and priorities of our families.
In the meantime, I’d like to share with you a little about what to expect. Our program will be serving up several “flavors” of educational settings this coming year. Our families will be able to pick the option that fits them best and transition between these options as their comfort level and needs change over time. Please see the options below.
Here are the options we plan to offer for continuous learning:
On-Campus Learning: These students will take part in daily in-person instruction on campus. Our school board is polishing up a guide to bring students safely onto our campus with an educational setting that allows for very generous classroom space and protocols for a healthy learning environment. As you might have expected, the policies under review by the board of education will deal mostly with on-campus learning.
Off-Campus Learning: This remote learning option is for families who feel best about having their child at home at this time. Our program will be ready to meet your needs through a digital home learning scenario.
Hybrid Learning: This option will allow for students to learn their core subjects on campus and then depart to home where they will complete other subjects digitally. This will appeal to families that desire in-person instruction, but want to minimize their child’s amount of time on campus.
Please contact our office if you have any questions about our program and the options we have in place: 214-368-1465 or info@ordallas.org.
