Spiritual Goals
Students learn basic knowledge of Bible stories focusing on remembering and recalling main ideas. We also cover consistency in the basic knowledge of sin, forgiveness, and Jesus’ sacrifice. Our messages focus on how to love by being kind and serving others.
Academic Goals
Our Redeemer holds high academic standards. Instruction takes place in large and small group settings to help each child reach their academic potential and enrich their learning.
Social – Emotional Goals
At Our Redeemer, we focus on helping students grow both socially and emotionally since children learn best when they feel loved and secure. Our goal is to grow students to be kind, caring individuals who know that Jesus loves them. Much of our learning is reinforced through play, social time and learning centers.
What do we do in PK 3?
Pre-K 3 Curriculum, Programs and Unique Learning
Jesus Time
Pre-Kindergarten 3 at Our Redeemer incorporates religion by using age appropriate One in Christ curriculum and the Word of God. Our program begins with the story of creation and end with Jesus ascending into heaven. We always incorporate essential Christian values of love, God’s grace, and treating others the way we would like to be treated.
Phonics and Reading
Loving to read starts early, and being a successful reader fosters that love. We set our students up for success by reviewing letter shapes and sounds with every-day activities. Pre-K 3 students are also able to listen to longer stories, explore books on their own, and produce shapes that resemble writing.
Foundations of Handwriting
Basic skills for handwriting begin with fine motor development. Students work with manipulatives and blocks to engage muscles and develop the coordination needed in Pre-K 4 to begin pre-writing activities. In Pre-K 3, students are encouraged to recognize letter and number shapes and copy then in creative ways: outlining a shape in macaroni, making a letter from small strips of paper, and more.
Math Basics
Basic math concepts are part of or Pre-K 3 curriculum. Your child will practice counting, recognizing patterns, sorting shapes, and basic addition concepts through hands-on manipulatives and mathematical stories. Our students learn to count to 10, recognize numbers, and work with shapes.
Science
Throughout the year, our program encourages children to explore the world around them. We learn about senses, living and non-living, nocturnal animals, seasons and weather changes, nutrition and healthy bodies, dental health, plants, and insects through many hands-on activities and experiments.
Social Studies
Within our program, your child will learn all about the parts of the community that God has given to them in their world. We learn all about our families, school, and community throughout the school year. We encourage parent participation for certain activities, because we consider you all part of the Our Redeemer family!
