September 13, 2019 – 6th Grade Teacher’s Notes
Literature- This Friday, we will take the AR test and a final exam on From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. On Monday we will be working on a final activity to wrap up the book. In two weeks, will start a new novel!
Social Studies- This upcoming week we will be studying Southern Africa. Key vocabulary words are: democracy, apartheid, and treason.
Language Arts– We are working on compound sentences and will learn how to diagram them. We will take a look at run-on sentences. We will wrap up the basics of sentences and move into Unit 2 soon, which focuses on capitalization.
6th Grade Math– We have moved into Topic 3 which covers multiplying and dividing by decimals.
We will be out in the garden on Friday for our first time!
On Thursday, September 19th is the kick off to QFE. There will be a breakfast and a program in the cafeteria. If you are planning on attending, please RSVP to the school office. The 6th graders will be a part of the event. Some will be helping with the breakfast and clean up. Choir will be singing. Students should arrive by 7:20 that morning.
The 2019-2020 school spirit shirts have arrived. Starting tomorrow, new shirts need to be worn instead of the retro shirts. Go Wildcats!
On Friday, September 20th, the students will begin preparing for Blast Fest, with rocket building. They are excited!
Literature– We have finished reading our first novel, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.
Math– 6th math has finished Topic 2 on multiplying and dividing fractions.
