September 6, 2019 – 5th Grade Teacher’s Notes
This week in fifth grade we continued to work on our figurative language mini unit. We have learned about similes, metaphors, and personification. I have been blown away by their creativity in writing with these concepts. They have done an excellent job!
We are beginning to work more on the Chromebooks now that school is in full swing. We are currently using google classroom to access our writing projects. Students have been learning about internet and computer safety with Mrs. Hutchinson in computer class.
Be sure to check your student’s take home binder (blue folder) on Fridays. All graded work comes home on this day. Students should return on Monday with an empty folder. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns with anything you see coming home.
Blessings on your weekend!
Week of September 9, 2019
Our next memory test will be this Thursday, September 12. The scripture verse is as follows:
And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may go well with you. Deuteronomy 6:18a
Reflection: When is it hard to do the right thing? How does God provide when it is hard to do the right thing?
This week in Science we will complete an investigation focusing on controlled experiments. We will test how surface material affects bounce height of a ball.
We will move on to learning about Nouns. This unit began on Friday.
