Worth it!
True, we’ve sacrificed here and there to put our children in this school, but when I consider what I hold most dear to my heart, it is giving my children the upbringing and future to become remarkable adults. That’s worth all the money in the world!
Favorites
If you ask one of the older kids who their favorite teacher has been, they will likely not be able to name just one. The typical answer would be that they loved being with Mrs. Ferguson because they liked winning their medals and that they like Mr. Frieling because he is funny or they like Mrs. Bolger because she would cuddle them when they came into class crying.
A Higher Level
At ORLS, your child will be “right leveled” for both math and reading, based on their aptitude. No teaching to the average aptitude here. They are assessed annually, at the beginning of school to see if they should be placed in the Advanced Reader or moved up a level in math. Add to that the smaller class sizes. All of this means that our children compete academically at a higher level than you will find in a school that must teach to the lowest denominator of aptitude.
Finding ORLS was somewhat of a miracle for me…
I was dealing with a divorce, a new job, a new city. I had two days to find and apartment and childcare, I started browsing on my phone for schools close to NorthPark, since that was where I was starting work the next week. …I was leaving the parking lot and saw the school ORLS. I walked in and luckily Carol was free to give me a tour. I could not believe it–a major prayer answered–a Christian school, friendly, and close to work. Awesome! Thank the Lord!”
Fine Arts – Spanish, Art, Music
We have them, a lot of other schools don’t. You see the kids’ art in the hallways and it is always quite impressive to me that they are so talented. The music program and the Spanish program are robust and the children come out reading music and many play instruments or participate in choir.
I Am a Worrier When it Comes to My Kids
I worry that the world is too rough for them and their spirits will be ruined by what they hear and see. They will grow up too fast. How will I protect them and keep them innocent? With each of my kids, there has been a distinct point in time where I stopped and thanked the Lord that he’d lead us to this gem of a school. From the very beginning, when I released them to the care and nurturing of their teachers, they have learned the love of the Lord.
