Our Redeemer Lutheran School is thrilled to welcome Dr. Kara Tobaben as our incoming Head of School! Her exceptional background in Lutheran education and unwavering commitment to Christ-centered learning make her the ideal leader to guide our students and families into the future.
A Leader Shaped by Faith and Experience
Dr. Tobaben comes to us with an impressive quarter-century of dedication to Lutheran education. Currently serving at Prince of Peace Christian School in Carrollton, she has worn many hats throughout her career—educator, administrator, coach, choir director, and college counselor. Her diverse experience spans multiple grade levels, from elementary through high school, giving her a comprehensive understanding of student development and educational excellence.
Her academic foundation is equally strong. Dr. Tobaben holds a doctorate in organizational leadership, with specialized research in differentiated learning—a modern approach that recognizes and nurtures each student’s unique learning style and potential. She also earned a Master of Arts in Education and completed both the LCMS Future Administrator Candidate Training (FACT) program and the prestigious Van Lunen Ascending Leaders initiative.
Deep Roots in Faith and Community
What truly sets Dr. Tobaben apart is her lifelong commitment to Lutheran values and Gospel ministry. For more than 25 years, she and her family have been devoted members of Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano, where her service extends far beyond Sunday worship. Whether serving on the altar guild, lending her voice to the church choir, or supporting the Lutheran Church Charities comfort dog program, Dr. Tobaben consistently demonstrates the servant leadership that defines Christian education.
Her philosophy of leadership is both simple and profound: “One of the most important things a leader does is to make promises and then to keep them.” This commitment to integrity and reliability reflects the trustworthy foundation upon which great schools are built.
