Dr. Kara Tobaben
Head of School
I’m Dr. Kara Tobaben, Head of School for Our Redeemer Lutheran School. As a lifelong Lutheran, I believe faith and education are deeply connected, and that our calling as educators goes far beyond academics. We’re here to shape hearts, strengthen minds, and walk alongside each child as they grow into who God created them to be.
For over 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in Lutheran elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. My experience gives me a deep understanding of the skills students need at every level to thrive. I firmly believe that every student deserves to be seen, supported, and stretched to reach their full, God-given potential.
I hold a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership with a focus on differentiated learning. To continue growing in my vocation, I’ve participated in leadership development initiatives such as LCMS FACT, Van Lunen Ascending Leaders, and Principal 360.
My Lutheran faith is a central part of my personal life. My husband and I have been active members of Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano for over 25 years. Our children attended Lutheran schools from kindergarten through high school. These experiences have shown me how important it is for students to be prepared academically and nurtured spiritually. I’ve seen the powerful impact of churches, schools, and families working together.
My experience and beliefs directly impact how I choose to lead and support staff, teachers, families, and students at Our Redeemer. I am blessed to share my gifts with this wonderful ministry of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
