Renee Scott
5th & 6th Grade Teacher
I’ve been in education for 22 years, and for the past six, I’ve been blessed to teach at Our Redeemer. Ever since I was a child, I knew I was meant to be a teacher. With two educators as parents, I started “teaching” my little brother early on—complete with homemade homework assignments and snack breaks! That same joy and passion still fill my classroom every day.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education with a Lutheran Education focus from Concordia University in Seward, NE, and later completed my Master’s Degree at Walden University, specializing in Integrating Technology into the Classroom. I’m certified to teach in Texas and love finding ways to blend strong academics with faith-filled learning experiences.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is witnessing the moment when something clicks for a student—that lightbulb moment never gets old. I also believe in the power of mistakes as essential to growth and encourage my students to approach challenges with confidence. Romans 8:38–39 reminds me daily that nothing can separate us from God’s love, and I strive to reflect that truth in my teaching.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, cheering on Purdue basketball, relaxing at pools and waterparks, and spending time with my family. I also have a quirky hobby—I collect Band-Aids! My collection started in high school and now includes international additions (all unused, of course). As a lifelong Lutheran school student and teacher, I’m so thankful to be part of a Christ-centered community that loves and supports its students—especially my own children, who are thriving here at Our Redeemer.
