long lines at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for Voting
Our Redeemer is no longer a polling place due to church and school growth, long lines, and limited parking.

After decades of being one of the largest and busiest voting locations in the Dallas area, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and School is no longer serving as a polling place. The decision was not made lightly, as Our Redeemer has been grateful to be able to support the North Dallas community in this way over the years.

The reason is simple: Our Redeemer is growing and expanding. Over the past several years, the huge voter turnouts, as seen on local television, have commonly featured long lines out the door and around the building. Parking lines have also been lengthy, and both voters and school families with children in tow have had to navigate as cars searched for spots.

Our Redeemer Lutheran School is launching another expansion to add room for current classes (1 year olds through 6th grade) as well as the anticipated 7th and 8th grades added within the next couple of years. Additionally, the Church will add much needed multipurpose spaces as well as parking for both church and school. Between the construction and the expansion itself, the 10 acres will be very active with no extra space for the crowds that traditionally come to vote.

Sr. Pastor Brent McGuire commented, “While we are disappointed to have to bow out of something so important [serving as a polling place for Dallas voters], it was decided now is the time to do so––at least for a time.  Our church and school are growing, and it’s essential that we prioritize our own programs and ministries.”
