Physical Fitness

Physical activity is an essential part of a child’s development. Your child has PE and recess each day, but physical fitness enrichment offerings at Our Redeemer go way beyond these basics. Activities in this enrichment strand include:

Running Club (Kidokinetics)

This club inspires young boys and girls to achieve a healthier lifestyle through non-competitive running at their own pace. (Kindergarten through 6th grade students).

Boys Basketball Team

These boys meet to condition and strengthen their basketball skills, learn how to be a part of a team, and compete with other schools in the Metro Athletic League (4th through 6th grade students).

Girls Basketball Team

These girls meet to condition and strengthen their basketball skills, learn how to be a part of a team, and compete with other schools in the Metro Athletic League (4th through 6th grade students).

Volleyball Team

These girls learn to strengthen volleyball skills, learn how to be a part of a team, and compete with other school. Games are played through the Metro Athletic League (4th through 6th grade students).

Soccer Team

These students meet to condition, strengthen their soccer skills, learn how to be a part of a team, and compete with other schools in the Metro Athletic League (4th through 6th grade students).

Archery (Kidokinetics)

This sport thrives with skills including focus, concentration, coordination, balance, clarity of mind, strength, stability and more. As an official partner of USA Archery, our programs utilize professional equipment with the support of a nationally recognized curriculum.

Stretch & Grow – Students participate in an action-packed class which focuses on larger motor skill development and encourages children to be physically active and eat healthy foods (PK2 through Kinderbridge students).

Soccer Shots – This program teaches the basic soccer skills in a fun, age-appropriate way (PK2 through Kinderbridge students).

Tippi Toes Dance Level One – This school year weekly dance class offers an exciting, fun, and energetic experience for boys and girls through ballet and movement instruction (PK2 through Kinderbridge grade students).

Little Dribblers Basketball Club – Students will learn basketball basics, such as dribbling, and conditioning (Kindergarten through 3rd grade students).

Basic Volleyball Club – These girls meet to introduce and strengthen basic volleyball skills (Kindergarten through 3rd grade students).

Soccer Fundamentals – Individual skills development program that is designed to help player develop a comfort level with ball.  Focus will be on basics techniques of dribbling, receiving, passing, and shooting.  In addition, we will focus on running mechanics and SAQ – Speed, Agility, and Quickness.  (Kindergarten and 1st grade students).

Soccer Premier – Skills program that is focused on advanced individual skills development and preparation for game-like situations.  Players will develop technically and tactically in 1v1 and small group situations that will better prepare them for games.  (2nd and 3rd grade students).

Super Sport Sampler (Kidokinetics) – This club provides fun, healthy exercises, games, and sports activities. Each class introduces a new sport activity teaching the skills and drills associated with the sport. (Kindergarten through 3rd grade students).

Tippi Toes Dance Level Two Club – This school year weekly dance class offers an exciting, fun, and energetic experience for boys and girls through hip hop instructions (Kindergarten through 6th grade students).

Stretching – This club begins with a Bible Scripture. Children will build strength, flexibility, balance, and overall body awareness by exercising the physical body. Breathing exercises will be introduced for calming and improving emotional awareness and self-regulation skills (Kindergarten through 6th grade students).

Field Day – Our Redeemer joins other area Lutheran schools each May for a fun “field day” experience where children compete in various track and field events (1st through 5th grade students).

Lacrosse (Kidokinetics) – This curriculum developed by USA Lacrosse introduces and develops the tactical, technical, and cooperative skills for young children to gain interest in the game (2nd and 3rd grade students).

Track Team – These students meet to condition and practice a variety of track events. One track meet is held at the end of the school year (4th through 6th grade students).
